Atkins and Diabeties

Just sent for my Atkins welcome kit.  I had been in the hospital last week and sick as a dog the week before.  My blood sugar was at 586 and I was extremely dehydrated.

I know that I have to change my lifestyle, especially around eating and exercise.  I am now on insulin and am looking at Disability for my Fibromyalgia.  Hoping that Atkins is within my budget and will help turn some of these issues on their head!

Will post when I get my kit and what happens from then on.

Atkins' will help with your blood sugars. Within 3 days my blood sugars came down to 160 in the mornings and to about 130 or so through out the day. Sometimes they will go lower, my lowest has been 116. I love Atkins'. I tried the 1800 calorie ADA diet for months and the only thing that was controlled was a steady weight gain until I weighed 319 pounds! It may take a little longer to get your blood sugars down being on insulin, but they will come down. I wish you all the best. Michelle

Good luck...the good thing about this diet is if you follow it you loose your cravings & rarely hungry. I am a pasta lover and have not craved it yet on day 16 & I lost 9 lbs so far. I make up my own fresh food menus using Atkins Daily Mealplanner which figures all the numbers.

I was taking 26 units of Lantis every night and a glipazide pill everymorning to control my blood sugar and it wasn't doing anything to help me. I started Atkins alittle over 4 weeks ago and now I am totally off all the meds. and my blood sugars are very close to normal all day long, I keep a close check on them and test regularly and I hve been seeing my doctor and she knows that I am doing a low carb diet and helped me to slowly lower my meds until I dont need them anymore YAY!!!!!
Give it a try and let you doctor know and keep monitoring you can do it.
