Cravings

This evening has been frustrating.  I have done really well all day long and have felt quite satisfied.  This afternoon I started getting a headache so I drank some broth and that seemed to help perk me back up.  Now this evening, I am having really bad cravings.  My go-to snack before bed always used to be a big bowl of cereal with milk.  I know I need to stop the bad habits, but it's hard to get past these cravings. What have others done for snacks in the evening?  What about cravings, how have you fought those off?  My soon to be mother in law sent over a dozen homemade valentine cookies for our family.  I let the kids each have one, packed one in their lunches for tomorrow, and threw the rest in the garbage.  I couldn't handle having them in the house.  I haven't cheated yet and I'm not going to.  I must remember, this too shall pass, right?

I measure out 1 to 2 ounces of dry-roasted, salted almonds and eat them VERY slowly. The salt tastes so good and the crunch is great since there is little crunch other than raw veggies on Atkins Induction. Hang in there! :)

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Cereal was my number one hardest thing to give up- I would eat it for all three meals a day if I had the choice. A few things that I enjoy for treats (consumption depends on where exactly you're at, of course) are sugar free Russel Stovers (the ones I get are 1-2carbs/4-5 pieces), Breyers low carb ice cream bars (7 carbs), and Hi-Lo cereal (6 carbs/1/2c.). Hope this helps you to stay strong (just be careful with the first two- I think we all know what too much fake-sugar intake does to the stomach)!! By the way- if you haven't- check out netrition.com! I love them!

nuts are not part of induction but that is a very useful suggestion if not sticking directly to induction kyhay

If you are in induction, ou should stick to authorized foods. One thing I ate during the first days when I was hungry late at night was mix up 1 fully tbp heavy cream, 1 tp cocoa, 1 tp shredded coconut and splenda. Eat it really slow and that should help you going through your cravings, as it has both calories and fat, plus the sweetness sensation. I didn't like it so much at first, because I'm not too much on chocolate -or cream, for that matter-, but it really helped me. Hope it helps you.
Good luck and enjoy

Actually nuts are allowed after the initial 2 weeks of Induction as long as you have followed the guidelines religiously and not cheated. Nuts, pork rinds, olives, celery and dip or even dill pickles. Lots of crunchy choices for low carb snacking later in the evening. I often have a snack about 9 or 10 pm.

Sounds like you have a good handle on the rest of things pretty well. Good for you for getting rid of the rest of those cookies too. :-)

Best of luck to you.
