We're in this together!
Hello! How are you? What’s been going on?

I love hearing from all of you and this community is such a powerful resource for me, I want to encourage everyone just getting started to really embrace it. Wherever you are out there, don’t think for one minute that you are on your own in this or that you are the only one who feels the way you do right now. There are millions and millions of people in the world who are not happy with their bodies, and one of the best things about Atkins is that there are thousands of people in this community who are here to support each other. Whether you want to lose a lot of weight or just live a healthier lifestyle, we are all in this together. We are going through what you are going through.

It’s true! I got to thinking about my first week on Atkins, and knowing that I was never on my own made me feel so much better. I found that first week to be the hardest, but my goodness, once I got through it, I felt so empowered. For those of you who were starting or re-starting when we spoke last week, how have you been doing?

All My Love And Support,

Sharon

P.S.- Atkins is giving away lots of free goodies next week! Check back here on Tuesday, you can enter to win a year of free Atkins bars or shakes and frozen meals!

Hello Sharon! I have lost all the weight I wanted to lose and am trying to maintain my current weight. Every once in a while I binge eat, mostly on sweet, high net carb pastries. I tried the Atkins bars and other low net carb desserts, some I developed myself. I do not know if the sweetness of such (stevia, splenda, etc.) increases or satisfies my cravings. But I do binge. Luckily, I have gone back on track after a day or two on bingeing on thousands of excess SUGAR calories. What do you recommend I do to reduce the cravings for sweet pastries (as well as refined crusts such as in pizza)? Try to give up sweetness all together or do the low net carb sweet bars and desserts? anita

Sharon, I'm 66 years old and in the past year, I've lost 50 lbs! All of my life I've struggled with weight. I've tried every plan, as I'm sure, everyone has. If I'd only known the secret of low carbs in my younger days, what a difference it would have made in my life! All of you fellow Atkins believers, isn't it an exciting discovery to find a plan that works without starvation? Thanks for being a public spokeswoman for the lifestyle. I'm a true believer!

Hi Sharon, Like you I am into my improving my health. I gained weight about 5 years ago and just have not been motivated enough to lose it. I saw an integrative specialist and found that my hormone levels were zero! (Im in my early fifties). Since getting my hormone levels back on track I feel much better. Now I want to take it to the next level with my diet. Atkins seems to be an informed and well-balanced way to do it. Do you have any suggestions for replacements to the 'chip' craving? I love salsa and guacamole...I need a vessel for my favorites!

I just decided to do this today. I have just had a kidney transplant in November. My renal disease was caused by diabetes and I need to take control of my health and weight so I don't lose this kidney. My sister was my donor and she wants to climb a mountain with both her kidneys so I have to get healthy and strong. I think I am too old to do this but it is a goal. Looking forward to all the support available. I really need to do this!!

I have been on this diet for 6 days and have lost 5 lbs (something that has been impossible for me to do because I'm 61 yrs. old). My only problem is I love milk. I'm use to drinking 3 to 4 glasses a day. Is there any substitute that I can have that is similar to the taste of milk. I tried almond milk but it was terrible. Help !! Does anyone have an answer??

I have only been on the plan for 1 week, working on my second. I have lost 5 pounds, and working on the next 5, I have set mini goals for myself instead of looking at the big picture. My hardest thing is sweets and breads, I hav not gone off of plan, but everyone now knows I want to lose weight. I need to start exercising, mainly walking since I currently can not afford a gym. I find myself wanting something crunchy. I wanted to say Thank you for sharing your story and struggles, so that we all may learn. My goal is to weigh between 120-130! I kow I can do it!!!

Hi Sharon and everybody. I just started Atkins today and I am a bit apprehensive about keeping the carbs up in this phase. I think the frozen meals are a good idea for someone like myself who doesn't like to count or measure anything. I have to master that. I can see how this could be a real life style change and that is exciting for me to think about after trying and failing about every diet out there. They all never seemed to be something I could see as being a permanent way of life because I was constantly fighting the cravings. So excited about this!! Good luck and good life to all of us.

Hi Sharon, I don't even want to sound like some kind of pushy sales person, but thanks to a friend of mine that I met on here a year and half ago, I found some amazing body wraps and products. I know you must have heard of them because they are Global. I am so in love with the body wraps that I am now selling them. lol. If you ever have a moment, please go look at my site. I am a mother of six daughters and I have been working at Dollar General for five years, hopefully I can quit and spend more time with my kids if i succeed in selling these awesome products. My page is www.cynthiathurmond.myitworks.com. You are perfect just as you are, but everyone needs to pamper themselves. We have facials and everything. Thank you for your time.

Sharon, I started this after watching your commercial for about the 100th time. I decided maybe Atkins is not as bad I thought it was in the 90's. I am loving it. My husband and I have been on it for 3 weeks he has lost 15 pounds, I have lost 20 pounds and 24 1/2". I still have 84 pounds to go but it really is not a diet plan, it is just changing your eating habits. I have felt discouraged at times, and still have cravings sometimes, but I have found low carb ice cream to eat as well as the tasty snacks Atkins makes. Caffeine was the hardest thing for me to give up, but now I drink water and 1 can of 7 up 10 or diet root beer with dinner. I was not sure I could do this change of eating lifestyle, but I am glad I did not give up and that my husband is on this journey with me. The support helps from this community and my husband. Thank you Sharon for being a great role model!

Hi, Sharon. I have only been at it for 4 days and already feel like crying trying to NOT think about starches and sweets. I mentioned laughingly to my hubby that all I can think of is sweets. I wanted him to just tell me I could DO it but the dummy (love him anyway) said, "I'll go get you something. What do you want?" Oh, well. 40 years ago I did Atkins and lost 40#'s in 3 months; but I was young and active. It seemed easy. Now I'm 140# overweight and can't move without pain. Have to force myself to do basic housework. It's depressing. It does help me to see that you felt the first week is the hardest. I try to swim 4-5 times a week (used to be competitive and have strong stroke still) but even in the water I managed to pull my shoulder because of all the weight my arms must pull now. Sound more down than I am but reading all the blogs here helps me think it really isn't "too late". EMPOWERMENT. Here's to EMPOWERMENT!
